Dr. Nina Stewart

Dr. Stewart is one of our our primary emergency veterinarians. She is a native of Indiana. She graduated from Purdue University before going on to graduate from Michigan State University Veterinary School. She has worked in two of the most advanced equine hospitals in the world, in both Ocala, Florida and Lexington, Kentucky. She has also done humanitarian veterinary work internationally. Dr. Stewart is now excited to bring her years of experience to help the people and horses served by Bluegrass Equine Emergency Services  in their emergency situations.  

Dr. Mikala Vig

Dr. Vig was born and raised in Minnesota, although she considers Kentucky home as it is where much of her family currently resides. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in Animal Science in 2014. Between undergraduate and veterinary school, she worked as a veterinary technician at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, KY, during the 2016 breeding season. She then moved to Arizona where she graduated from Midwestern University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2020. After graduation, Dr. Vig completed a one-year internship at Chaparral Veterinary Medical Center, a busy 24-hour equine referral hospital in Cave Creek, Arizona. Dr. Vig is excited to be back in Kentucky and looks forward to helping people and their horses with their equine emergencies. In her free time, you will find her at the farm with her horse, Vader, with her dog, Moxie or spending time with her family.
